Soo, yes, a little 'layout archive'. Um. Well, just to let you know, this page exists far more because of nostalgia and a desire to ramble a bit about things than because there's any artistic talent displayed herein! Right, now that you've been warned, feel free to dive into the very interesting history of this little site.
OK- JA's Jellicle Place went online sometime late September 2001 - I think the 23rd, but I may be completely making that up. I'd been introduced to CATS through a marvellous series of coincidences over the summer (I randomly bought the easy piano music from Oxfam, liked it, brought it to my best friend's house and her sister said, Ooh, we have that on video.... and the rest is history, yes?).
Here's teh first layout ever. Can we say... cute? No? Hmm, well, it isn't abominably cluttered and disgustified - I'd had a little experience with "webdesign" (note the HEAVY quote-unquotes please!) with my Tamora Pierce site. Anyway. XD Some lovely people were nice enough to visit and even say nice things which encouraged me to go on and on and ooon!
Heee. I think this one is cute. Back then I really thought of the "front page" as something you designed, and the rest just kept plain. ...Actually I still think there's quite a bit to be said for this approoach, at least as far as this site goes.
...And this is even cuter. I've called it "layout 2.5" cos it's just the Christmas version of the previous.
OK, here we are in 2002. Just... what a year. I guess you can tell quite a bit about how into CATS and website-making I was from the sheer volume of front pages!
It was the major year of my catssite... and of fanfic... Of writing in general, actually. It was also my 14-15 year old year which has gained notoriety in my brain as THE YEAR I DISCOVERED (and then eschewed, pretty much) TEENAGE ANGST!! Buahaha. Well, hey, live and learn. I learnt a lot from all that, even the angst. Also- year I first played Final Fantasy VII, thanks to guess who. ...Final Fantasy. Oh my. And so it begins!!! MUAHAHA. And late in the year... composing. That really started, which is something that I'm really about nowadays, even when maybe the writing's tailed off a bit.
Anyway, the year of fanfic, and of various fanfic writers I loved and idolised.. Year (for me) of Yuffie V, Triskell, Becky, Musachan, Merete, Jessica R Vance... Nemble. Pouncikit. Savage Garden! XD Then I met Megara, Trirarien... And I really can't believe it was four years ago!!! Year of "INTERNET WHOO!" in many ways-- I started learn also about how sometimes you meet people tangentally somehow.. only to lose them again, or maybe..... It still hurts, aches to think about this. I loved it, I'm not letting go; it feels so real and I can't believe I'm not still there sometimes.
...OK, sorry. Is this a layout archive or a ..what? XD Anyway. This was a big, defining year for me, right? And here are lots of CATSsite front pages to prove it!!
Hmm, I'm not sure if this is actually the version that made it online or not... something along these lines. Heh, I actually like the old ones better XD
Slightly reconstructed, this one. I can't find the original pic I actually used, but I know it was Jemima and probably something like this one. Very weird, actually, that this is the only Jemima layout I've
Oooh, look, I made my own composite pic of Viccy+moon XD Only it looked better to me on the old less-bright computer XD
EEEeheheeee~ I remember this. On April 1st 2002, Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer took over the site and wreaked A LOT of havoc XD To this day, they still retain a small place in this establishment to call their own as a result...
This was quite a nice, pretty, quiet sort of front page featuring Tantomile & Coricopat that people liked... Ooh, look, I've discovered CSS (in a limited sort of way XD), yay!
And this was a lovely bright, happy front page XD Not the last time you'll see this pic either :)
Something a little more mellow -- I wrote under the updates that I didn't want to change from the old one but it was time for a new front page!!! My goodness, things have changed... *looks at her year-old+ layout*
Buahaha, more HAPPY layout-ness! To celebrate - can you believe it? - we're only up to ONE YEAR OLD so far ^^;; I was such a layout *censored*!
A Christmassy/New Yearsy one. I think it had a midi playing, but don't hate me too much, it was 'In The Bleak Midwinter' which is very pretty, and it was a very short keyboard rendition by me...
Well, end of 2002! 'Course, things don't work so neatly with boundaries like years really; things, y'know, kept going. I worked hard from October to February or something on my big Rumpelteazer fic, Skyline. However, I think, sometime after this, updates became less frequent.... I was doing GCSEs, and then AS/A Levels and thusly sometimes actually having to, you know, do school work, if thats any kind of excuse...? ^^
Erk... trying something a little fancy (for me) with the menu and everything... not a very good idea, it transpires!
More rather ill-advised messing around with webdesign here! Ahem. This time i-frames, which were seriously THE COOLEST THING EVER I thought. Pretty pic though ^_^ ♥ Gus.
Here's an honorary entry here-- this is actually a layout from my former collective-type-thing "Another Realm". It features Rumpelteazer and is incredibly shiny ^^;; I think I actually took it down really quickly and replaced it with something uber simple. ..Insecure.. ^^
OK, so I was still obsessed with i-frames (not good for an expansive site like this, at least not the way I was doing it.) - but this is a cute layout anyway. And, look, we're two years old now!
And this is in fact the only layout from 2004. Back to my beginnings, as nostalgia hits me hard, and not for the last time! I really like this one still :) The Tugger pic (...*squee!*) is a lot like one I remember from JM, back in the day... *sigh*
Aaand the only layout from 2005. Making again a conscious effort to keep things pretty simple and ... I don't know, not 'professional' looking. Looking like a CATS fan site, cos that's what this is! The bit I don't really like is the navigation- not sure anymore about all the submenu pages. Oh, and I'm not what you might call exactly thrilled with the myriad of ads from Angelfire nowadays either....^^
2006 layout, yay~ This is a more pretty, sophisticated type thing, but hopefully not too much of a departure from the generally simple style of this site :) I like it :) Look how beautiful Munk & Dem are.... *sniff*
Haha! TWO layouts in 2006 (just about XD) Bring it on. This one created Christmas Eve-Eve 2006, and inspired by my five recent trips to the Jellicle Junkyard.... Quite possibly the quickest layout I ever made ^^;
