Very pleased to announce and Original Soundtrack Plus-Minus Vol. 1, the first volume of my FFVII Remake covers in the style of the original 1997 game is up for listening on Spotify! also incidentally the first covers/arrangements of any kind I’ve officially released.
Avalanche’s Theme, Jessie’s Theme, Critical Shot, Run Run Run, together with an original composition.
My goal with these “demakes” is to create cover versions/arrangements of tracks from Remake (and Advent Children, Crisis Core) in approximately the style of the original 1997 Playstation game soundtrack. I’d been doing these since 2020, but using the soundfont previously obtained from files in the game. I wasn’t sure if this would be okay legally for releasing off youtube etc, and thus began a bit of a hunt, and an education. I’ve tried to find either possible original sources of instrument samples, or things that sound close enough for now. The electric piano, a major feature of the soundtrack, gave me a LOT of trouble until I found out the source from Mathew Valente, who’s been at this kind of thing a lot longer and more seriously – many thanks!
I have also been tidying and tweaking the arrangements so I hope you enjoy the shiny new versions.
You can listen to the new version of Jessie’s Theme, which was the most substantially updated, with various tweaks and also a whole second section from Hamauzu’s original that I didn’t include on my first try, here:
