1990s midi game music nostalgia
I am very very fond of midi sounds. I’m using midi here as shorthand for the types of sounds we’d hear when playing .mid files on our computer soundcards in the 90s/early 2000s — what I’m actually using to make these tracks are emulations of sound modules that defined that kind of “sound”.
Honestly I’ve been playing around with older/retro sounds all along, but I decided here to put together a small somewhat coherent project, so it’s an imaginary game, something like a space shooter? That appears to have something of a story arc, and an emotional one at that, if the last few tracks: The Sun in Your Hand -> The Absolute -> Beyond (which slows things right down before reprising several main themes over a epic-heroic-rock beat) are anything to go by…
