Twelfth Night

Duke Orsino’s Original All Funk Soul Family Band…

Hecate Theatre, 2011

Musical director & band leader as well as writing the songs – working together with two other band members, jamming to develop ideas.

Twelfth Night contains within the playtext three of the songs, sung by Feste: O Mistress Mine, Come Away Death and The Wind and the Rain. This production also had the concept of Olivia as a jazz club singer. Blessed with a fantastic Olivia who really could sing, we gave her three further songs using words from sonnets, to express her mood at various points in the play.

Olivia’s second song ‘Thy Love is Better’ (live, low quality recording) with Natasha Paulinyi as Olivia
Come Away, Death (piano and saxophone only version) Sara and James Garrard (2012)

In 2021, some of the music had a second life as part of Shakespeare series on Bradley Stoke community radio, and I made re recordings of the songs.
